To coincide with the launch of Phil Khoury's London Chocolate Bar, I had the pleasure of collaborating with Phil on a limited collection of handmade ceramic cups.
Each cup was thrown by hand in my studio in Peckham, taking shape over the course of nearly two weeks. No two are exactly alike, with subtle variations in form and glaze reflecting the nature of the making process. Designed to accompany the launch, the cups were intended to complement the ritual of enjoying hot chocolate, coffee, or tea, bringing together thoughtful food and considered objects.
and I first worked together as pastry chefs at Harrods, so it’s a real joy to be teaming up again in a new way. and although my practice has since shifted from the kitchen to the pottery wheel, that connection continues to shape the way I think about making. This collaboration felt like a natural meeting point between our two crafts, combining Phil's approach to flavour and with my interest in creating functional ceramics for everyday use.
Projects like this are a reminder of how closely food and ceramics are connected. The objects we choose to eat and drink from become part of the experience itself, and it's always rewarding to create pieces that are made not only to be admired, but to be held, used, and shared.
